One of the best ads ever c. 1999?

It’s a shame they don’t make commercials like this anymore. This is one of the best ever, called Levi’s Elevator Fantasy, with “I think I love you” music by David Cassidy. The commercial was directed, it seems, by Michael Bay.

I play it the company way

I’m greatly enjoying this new show “Mad Men,” a period TV show on AMC about people on Madison Avenue in 1960. There are some scenes that just wouldn’t happen in today’s world.

Besides the great writing and amazing set design, I’m also happy to see J. Pierpont Finch has finally made it to the corner office. Robert Morse played Finch in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” both on Broadway and in the movie. I’ve included a clip that includes him from “Man Men” and from the “Dinah Shore Show” in 1975. Talk about two period pieces.

Don’t wait for Thursday, see Studio 60 now

I can’t find Studio 60 on TV anymore, but it’s on the NBC website. I think it’s a week in advance.
